As a member of the first scout troop:
“I spent a lot of time with the church and went to Sunday school and all of that. Troop 51 was what I did a lot of, earning the merit badges. It was a small group. We did all kinds of activities… I worked through everything up until I earned my Eagle at 15 years old. There were a lot of activities. There was camp Mapledale… each summer the whole troop would go there, and do all sorts of activities.”
